Why do we collect Hot Wheels, and what makes objects meaningful? An exploration of human behaviour, nostalgia and collecting, with a PCRC listening session, pop-up stalls and interactive experiences.
redline: the collectors' edit β Hot Wheels & Human Behaviour Lab
Renaissance Γ Communitie
Why do we collect things? Why do Hot Wheels, watches, and seemingly ordinary objects become something we hold on to for years? What makes us attach memories, emotions and identity to the things we own?
This edition of Renaissance explores the psychology and culture of collecting, looking at the intersection of human behaviour, nostalgia, design and automobiles. Through Hot Wheels and the stories of collectors, we'll explore the deeper reasons behind our fascination with objects, and how something so small can hold so much meaning.
The evening brings together an immersive Renaissance session, a collectors' table featuring personal collections, and a listening session featuring Peter Cat Recording Co. (PCRC). With pop-up stalls, opportunities to discover and exchange collectibles, and interactive experiences, the gathering extends beyond conversation into a shared celebration of collecting culture.
Come explore the objects we collect, the stories we preserve, and the people we become along the way.
