High Intense Editing Hackathon
Overview
The Editor's Hackathon, presented by Cinic and Communite as part of the Hyderabad Film
Festival and orchestrated by The Mad King Studios, challenges editors to turn a common
set of raw footage into a 60–90 second film. Every participant works from the same
footage; the edit is what sets entries apart.
Submission deadline: 2026-09-27 , 4:30 PM IST
Footage : Only the footage provided in the official Drive
Final duration: 60 to 90 seconds
Editing software: Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve only
Music: Copyright-free / royalty-free music only
Deliverables: Final edited clip + screenshot of the editing
Footage to Edit: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1yCRk_-30KEIJmiRiz5jRqywFiBXfOQQB
The Brief
A brief from The Mad King Studios
Everyone gets the same footage. What you make of it is yours. Find the rhythm hiding in
the raw clips, choose what to hold and what to cut, and let the edit carry the audience
somewhere — a feeling, a moment, a story that only your cut could tell. T reat sound and
silence as seriously as picture.
Entries will be judged on storytelling, pacing and rhythm, sound design, creative use of
the footage, and technical finish.
Rules
1. Footage. Use only the footage supplied in the official Drive folder . No external footage
of any kind — stock clips, archival material, personal shoots or AI-generated video — is
permitted.
2. Duration. The final edit must run between 60 and 90 seconds, including any titles and
credits.
3. Software. Edits must be made in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. Entries cut in
any other application will not be accepted.
4. Music and sound. Use only copyright-free or royalty-free music and sound effects.
Winning entries will be screened and announced on stage at the festival and may be
published, so all audio must be cleared for public use.
5. Originality. Each entry must be the participant's own work, created for this hackathon.
Submission Requirements
Submit both items below by 2026-09-27 , 4:30 PM IST . Late entries will not be considered.
Final edited clip — the exported 60–90 second video.
Timeline screenshot — a full-screen capture of your Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
timeline showing the provided footage in use. This is how we verify the software used,
so the application interf ace must be clearly visible.
Disqualification & Use of Entries
An entry will be disqualified if it uses external footage, f alls outside the 60–90 second
range, is edited in unapproved software, lacks a valid timeline screenshot, contains
copyrighted music, or is submitted after the deadline.
By submitting, participants agree that winning entries may be screened, announced on
stage and published by Cinic, Communite and the Hyderabad Film Festival, with credit to
the editor . The organisers' decision on all matters is final.
