We are reading Remnants of a Separation, which looks closely at what people carried across the border during Partition — not just objects, but the meanings, memories, and family histories that traveled with them, and what still holds significance all these decades later. What is lost, what has changed meaning, what has been shared with the descendants. Objects and the memories they evoke, personal history tied to something tangible.

It got us thinking closer to home: most of us have left a city or home at some point, not knowing if we'd really go back. Some of you have moved to Hyderabad.

So, what did you bring/take with you? Or if you haven't had to leave (yet), what's the one thing you'd take? Can be utilitarian, sentimental, or ordinary.

Bring the object if you can (or just the story). We'd love to hear it at the session.
